We are fortunate to live in a great four-season location. Try to get outside as much as you can. Hike, bike, ski, rock climb, do anything you enjoy and do it often. If you want a local challenge that will get your heart rate up, try the Manitou Springs Incline. The trail is on top of an old cog railway track and rises nearly 2000 feet in less than a mile. There is a more level three mile hike down Barr trail once you get to the top. This workout is not for the feint of heart! Think of it as a stair stepper on steroids with a much better view.

For women it is easy to forego the muscle and strength training in favor of aerobic workouts. For men it is the opposite. We have seen highly fit muscle builders fail basic fitness situations because they did not focus on both strength and aerobic exercise.

By stretching daily you avoid the risk of injuring yourself and also protects you from long term degenerative problems. Muscle builders tend to focus on one area more than others making their bodies unbalanced. For example, strengthening chest and biceps without focusing on back and triceps can cause your shoulders to roll forward, ultimately causing potential problems like rotator cuff injuries.
